Your support helps keep the Lincoln Highway’s history accessible, its landmarks visible, and its communities connected.
From welcoming museum visitors to preserving roadside treasures, the Lincoln Highway Heritage Corridor connects people with the stories of America’s first coast-to-coast highway. Your 2026 year-end gift helps carry that work into the year ahead.

Preserving the Places That Tell Our Story
This year brought improvements to the Lincoln Highway Experience’s Postcard Corridor, lighting, and heating and cooling systems. We also completed a condition assessment of the historic Johnston House to guide future preservation work.
Across our 200-mile corridor, work continued to inventory roadside interpretive resources and collaborate on the restoration and reimagining of the Gettysburg mural. These landmarks help travelers discover the history along the road.
Investing in Corridor Communities
With funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, LHHC awarded $60,000 in mini grants to 11 nonprofit organizations and municipalities.
Projects range from Coffee Pot restoration and museum exhibit cases to trail improvements, wayfinding, environmental education, and expanded access to the arts. Together, they strengthen the places that give our corridor its character.
Bringing History to Life
Museum tours, community presentations, special events, and new partnerships brought Lincoln Highway stories to more people.
At the 2026 Lincoln Highway Association conference, Spencer Simpson received the Educator of the Year Award, and the Lincoln Highway Experience received the Friend of the LHA Award—recognizing the people and programs that make this history meaningful.
Powered by People
Behind every museum visit, program, and preservation project are people who care about this highway and its future.
General volunteers contributed 2,165 hours supporting interpretation, events, and grounds maintenance. Archives volunteers contributed another 636 hours caring for the materials that preserve the Lincoln Highway’s past.
Students also made lasting contributions through marketing projects and outdoor service work. Their time, talent, and enthusiasm help keep this history within reach.
Help Shape the Road Ahead
Your year-end gift supports the people, places, and programs that will carry our mission into 2027.
Our priorities include:
- New museum stories: Exhibits exploring Idlewild Park, student artwork, and the history of regional organizations and communities.
- Learning for the next generation: Developing a standards-based education program for schools, especially K–12 students.
- Roadside preservation: Continuing repairs and replacement of interpretive panels, murals, and wayfinding signs.
- Care for our historic home: Pursuing funding for electrical and lighting improvements and conservation of the Johnston House’s original windows.
Your support helps us care for what we have inherited while creating new ways for people to discover it.
